Ethan Weber of the Checotah Recreation Department strings lights on one of the 34 trees that will be decorated on South Broadway. Citizens and groups reserve a tree they can decorate. This Christmas tradition started in 2016 from an idea by Ward 1 city councilor Mike Key and Mayor Daniel Tarkington. Light poles in downtown also have been decorated for the holiday.
