Bird counters, from left, Tom Alford, Chris McGreer and Jessica McGreer gaze through binoculars while counting birds Friday at Honor Heights Park. Honor Heights Park Naturalist Tom Roberts said about 300 birds, representing 21 species were counted. Roberts said cool weather might have resulted in a comparatively low count this year. Counters walked through the park’s arboretum and around to the south. Friday’s count was part of a national effort sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society.
