Muskogee Fire Department personnel put yellow tape around a manhole after it was struck Thursday morning by a Honda Accord. The Accord had struck a Volvo station wagon.
Muskogee Police Officer Matt Perryman said the northbound Volvo station wagon driven by Sandra Hill was crossing into the J & E parking lot, 1509 N. Main St., when it was struck by a 1996 Honda Accord. Perryman said the Accord driver left the scene. J & E owner Ed Johnson said the driver of the Honda “came highballing down Main, 60 miles an hour.” He said the
Honda bounced two feet after hitting a manhole that extended from a ditch. “Then he runs up here cussing a blue streak,” Johnson said about the Honda driver, adding that the driver ran away. Johnson said Hill did not complain about any injuries from the accident.
