CATHY SPAULDING/Muskogee Phoenix
A worker motions as an excavator clears a tree from around a broken water line Friday afternoon. A break in a 24-inch water line north of the York Street and Shawnee Bypass intersection prompted water pressure issues in parts of Muskogee. The line break prompted the Muskogee County Courthouse and County Services building to close at noon. Water pressure problems also were reported at seven Muskogee Public Schools buildings. Assistant Public Works Director for Utilities George Kingston said the broken water line was to have been replaced within two years. He said two 24-inch lines run through the area. The one that broke dates to 1947; the other dates to 1911.
