A wrecking crew on Tuesday demolishes the former Muskogee County Regional
Detention Center at the corner of West Shawnee Bypass and North Sixth Street.
The demolition project is part of the development of Three Rivers Plaza, the first
retail project to take place within a blighted area designated for urban renewal.
Inmates were moved to a new juvenile detention facility just more than a week ago.
Anchor tenants at Three Rivers Plaza are expected to open for business during
the second half of October.
